Puente Chosen National Offensive Player of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer player Briana Puente was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Offensive Player of the Week.
Puente, a sophomore forward from Hope, Arkansas, had two goals and an assist as the Suns won both games last week. She had the gamewinning goal on a 22-yard free kick in a 1-0 victory over Dallas College Mountain View Friday. Three days earlier, she assisted on the gamewinning goal, and scored a goal in another shutout of a Dallas Athletic Conference opponent, this time a 3-0 win over Dallas College Eastfield.
It was her first gamewinning goal of the season and the third of her career.
Puente finished the regular season with a team-leading six goals and six assists for 18 points.
Cedar Valley (9-5-1) will play Mountain View in the NJCAA Division III South District quarterfinals Tuesday at Dallas College Brookhaven.
