Suns Shut Out Patriots for Second Time

FORT WORTH, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer team beat Arlington Baptist, 2-0, Tuesday at Gateway Park.

It was the Suns' second win over the Patriots this season, and both have come by shutout. Cedar Valley (2-1-0) blanked Arlington Baptist (0-5-0) in the season opener, 8-0.

Mariah Macias scored two minutes into the game on an assist from Lilianna Tapia. It was Macias' first goal of the season.

The Suns took that one-goal lead into halftime. Cedar Valley outshot Arlington Baptist, 15-3, in the first half.

Victoria Hernandez found the back of the net in the 52nd minute on another assist from Tapia. It was Hernandez's second goal of the year.

Cedar Valley outshot ABU, 22-3, in the second half.

Suns starting goalkeeper Olivia Reyna (2-0-0) made three saves in the first half to record her second win. Serena Aldana stopped one shot in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Cedar Valley will open Dallas Athletic Conference play 7 p.m. Friday at Dallas College Richland.
