No. 9 Suns Hold No. 2 Bears to Scoreless Draw

LANCASTER, Texas – In a matchup of Top 10 programs, No. 9 Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer team battled No. 2 Dallas College Brookhaven to a scoreless draw Tuesday.

It was the Suns' first home Dallas Athletic Conference game of the season.

Brookhaven, ranked second in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, outshot Cedar Valley, 19-5. But Suns goalkeepers Serena Aldana and Olivia Reyna combined to stop 13 shots in the shutout. Aldana had nine saves, while Reyna finished with four – each spending a half in goal.

It was Cedar Valley's third shutout of the season.

Brookhaven's Gracie Murillo attempted six shots, including one on goal. Bears teammate Elyana Martinez put both of her shots on goal. Cedar Valley's Mariah Macias and Haylie Sanchez accounted for the Suns' two shots on goal.

Bears keeper Brianna Flores stopped both of the Suns' shots on frame to pick up her second shutout of the season.

Brookhaven ripped off 13 of its 19 shots in the second half. Cedar Valley attempted four of its five shots after the intermission.

Cedar Valley (3-1-1, 1-0-1 DAC) will host Dallas College Eastfield (3-5-0, 1-1-0) at 4 p.m. Friday.
