LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's eighth-ranked women's soccer team finished the first round of the Dallas Athletic Conference schedule with a 5-0 win over Dallas College Mountain View Friday.
The Suns (6-1-1, 4-0-1 DAC) sit atop the league standings after winning their third straight game. They are unbeaten in their last six games, posting four shutouts during that span.
Cedar Valley scored all five goals in the first half.
Lilianna Tapia scored the game's first goal less than three minutes after kickoff, and assisted on Karina Rivera's goal as the 12th minute began. It was Tapia's third goal of the season, and her second game winner. Rivera also had an assist – a helper on Mariah Macias' goal in the 21st minute.
That made it 3-0.
Victory Oyoyo Peter scored nearly three minutes later on an assist from Haylie Sanchez. It was Oyoyo Peter's second goal of the week. Summer Soto added an unassisted goal just before the 30:00 mark to cap the scoring.
Cedar Valley outshot Mountain View, 40-4. It was the most shots the Suns have attempted this year. They had 37 in a 2-0 win at Arlington Baptist University Sept. 10 which started the six-game unbeaten streak.
Suns goalkeepers Olivia Reyna and Serena Aldana combined on their fifth shutout of the year. Reyna stopped two shots. Aldana made one save.
Cedar Valley will host Dallas College Richland (5-2-1, 3-1-1) at 4 p.m. Tuesday to begin the second round of conference play.
