Women's Soccer Comes Back to Tie Eastfield

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer team tied Dallas College Eastfield, 2-2, Tuesday night.

Eastfield (4-8-2, 2-4-2 Dallas Athletic Conference) scored the first two goals in the first half before Cedar Valley (6-3-2, 4-2-2) answered with two of its own in the second half to secure the draw.

Eastfield's Aleksus Gonzalez scored 20 seconds into the game on an assist from Mackensie Davis to put the Harvester Bees ahead first. Gonzalez added a second goal, an unassisted winner, in the 17th minute to extend the lead.

Cedar Valley's Lilianna Tapia scored an unassisted goal less than a minute into the second half as the Suns cut the deficit in half. It was Tapia's fourth goal of the season.

In the 77th minute, defender Brianna Barcenas tied the game for the Suns, scoring another unassisted goal. It was Barcenas' first career goal.

Cedar Valley, which is receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, attempted 33 shots, 18 on goal. The Suns had 15 shots in the first half and 18 in the second.

Suns starting goalkeeper Olivia Reyna made three saves. Second half keeper Serena Aldana (3-2-1) stopped six shots.

Cedar Valley hosts Dallas College North Lake (4-5-4, 2-3-3) at 4 p.m. Friday in the final home game this season.
