Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season with Win

DALLAS – Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer team beat Dallas College Mountain View, 3-1, in the final regular season game Tuesday night.

The Suns (7-3-3, 5-2-3 Dallas Athletic Conference) scored all three goals in the second half, overcoming a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Mountain View's Bianca Dean scored in the 26th minute to give the Lions a one-goal lead. They maintained control of the game until Cedar Valley's Victoria Hernandez scored the equalizer in the 54th minute. Brianna Bercenas assisted on the goal.

In the 62nd minute, Mariah Macias scored on a free kick to put Cedar Valley in front, 2-1. It was Macias' fourth goal of the season, and her second game winner. Hernandez added an insurance goal on an assist from Celeste Gonzalez at the 68:12 mark to cap the scoring.

Hernandez has a team-leading eight goals this season.

Suns goalkeepers Serena Aldana and Olivia Reyna each spent a half in goal. Reyna had two saves, and Aldana made one.

Cedar Valley attempted 28 shots, eight of which were on goal.

The two teams will meet again 4 p.m. next Tuesday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District Tournament quarterfinals at Dallas College Brookhaven.
