Suns Host No. 7 Bears in DAC Tilt Monday

Dallas College Cedar Valley hosts No. 7 Dallas College Brookhaven in a big match 6 p.m. Monday to close the first half of conference play.

SCHEDULE

Dallas College Cedar Valley's volleyball team will take an unbeaten Dallas Athletic Conference record into Monday's high-stakes meeting with No. 7 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III-ranked Dallas College Brookhaven.

Cedar Valley, which entered Friday's Suns Tri-Match with a 10-14 overall, 4-0 DAC record, host the nationally-ranked Bears (15-9, 4-0) at 6 p.m. Monday to complete the first half of conference play.

The Suns swept the Bears in the regular season last year before Brookhaven ended Cedar Valley's season in the DAC Tournament a year ago.

Both teams ride winning streaks entering this weekend, with Cedar Valley having collected five straight victories -- only one out of conference -- and Brookhaven having rattled off seven in a row.

Cedar Valley's Lauren Collier has a team-high 219 kills and 20 aces. Isaline Jaquemyn has 207 kills and a team-best 40 aces to go along with her 165 digs. Jaquelyn Martinez's 294 digs lead the Suns, as do Laila Beck's 62 blocks. Beck is sixth in the country in blocks.

Brookhaven leads the nation in blocks (240), while Bears hitter Ariel Austin is the nation's leader in kills with 351. Cearria Traylor leads the NJCAA DIII in blocks with 114.

The Suns are hosting Arlington Baptist and Southwestern Adventist University Friday in the tri-match before meeting Dallas Christian College on the road 1 p.m. Saturday. The Suns will host Dallas College Richland 6 p.m. Thursday on Pink Out night.
