Suns Sweep: Cedar Valley Notches Home Win

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's volleyball team swept Southwestern Adventist University, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14, Thursday.

It was the first home win of the season. It also marked the first sweep this year for the Suns, and it came against a team Cedar Valley beat in five sets a week earlier.

Alexis Burton pounded 19 kills for the third time this season, while hitting .342, and adding three blocks, including two solos. Haven Hernandez finished with eight kills, a .615 hitting percentage and an ace. Abigail Soto had six kills and a .312 attack percentage.

The Suns hit a season-best .243. They had 14 kills in each of the three sets, and committed just three errors in the third for a .324 attack percentage.

Amanda Sandoval had 23 assists and six digs. Carolina Alonso had 12 assists, two aces and nine digs. Sydney Rodriguez led Cedar Valley with 10 digs. Morgan Taylor fired off five of the Suns' season-high 11 aces. Lanie Wink and Lourdes Lester both had seven digs, and Wink added an ace.

Cedar Valley (2-11) hosts Dallas College Richland (10-11) to open Dallas Athletic Conference play 6 p.m. Monday.
