Lady Suns Defeat NCTC in Five Set Thriller

Lady Suns Defeat NCTC in Five Set Thriller
The CVC Lady Suns hit the road last night and came away with a five set victory (21-25,25-18,26-24, 21-25,18-16) in their season opener against the North Central Texas Lions.

"It was a great first season win as our season opener. I think everybody plays very gritty and there a lot of long rallies and defensive touches. I give both teams so much credit for being able to hang in difficult situations and battle through the match," said Head Coach Almendarez.

Mallorie Brooks led the Lady Suns with 11 kills, adding 17 digs, while Sarah Carrola posted a team-high 28 digs and five service aces for CVC.

Miranda Solis dished out 32 assists, with ten digs and a solo block.

Sophomores Brenda Duran and Cali Odom combined for 11 kills and 17 digs, with Makayla Brisco registering a hitting percentage of .316% and seven digs.

"At one point we were down 1-9 and came back to win the set 26-24 as NCTC was down five points and took the next set. We learned a lot from this match as a team we came together and fought for each other. We showed a lot of resiliency and heart," Coach Bell continued.

The Lady Suns will return home this Saturday, when they face Ranger College in their season home opener.
