Suns Baseball Edged by Brookhaven in Game One, 7-6

The CVC Baseball Team dropped game one of their three game series against the Brookhaven Bears, 7-6.

The Suns fell behind early, with the Bears taking a 3-1 advantage going into the fifth inning. Both squads went scoreless, until the top of the ninth inning, when the Suns notched two runs to knot the score at 3-3, and head into extra innings.

Both teams crossed the plate in the tenth inning pushing the score to 4-4. CVC would take the lead out of the top of the eleventh inning going ahead 6-4, but Brookhaven would rally to earn the final three runs of the game to claim the win.

Alex Rivera and Jesse Mendoza both hit home runs for the Suns, each registering two RBIs. Jesus Payan had a team high four hits. In eight innings pitched Shannon Broussard threw six strikeouts.

The CVC-BC series resumes play this Friday at Cedar Valley.
