The CVC Baseball Team went on to close out their series with the Richland Thunderducks, 2-1, after splitting the final two games of the series. Cedar Valley came away with wins in games one and two, as they won their fourth straight MAC series.
Game two of the series saw the Suns and Thunderducks go down to the wire. In the ninth inning, Daniel Quintanilla hit a walk-off three-run home run that sealed the win for CVC as they defeated RLC, 11-10. Quintanilla finished the day with three hits, three RBIs, and a run.
J.J. Veloz Jr. turned in four runs and four hits, while Austin Nicholson earned the win from the mound with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.
Cedar Valley suffered a setback in game three, having their nine-game win streak snapped after a 14-4 loss handed to them by the Thunderducks.
Four Suns had at least two hits, with Veloz Jr. crossing home plate twice. Jesus Payan had the lone RBI.
On Monday, CVC will face LeTourneau University in a doubleheader rematch.
