Suns Baseball Eager to Build on Record Breaking 2017

Suns Baseball Eager to Build on Record Breaking 2017
The 2017 season was a phenomenal year for the CVC Suns Baseball Team. Not only did the Suns make a return to the NJCAA District C Tournament and be named to the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year list for the fifth consecutive season, but they also shattered the single-season game wins total, claiming 37 victories.

CVC Head Baseball Coach Robert Dally let it be known that it was a remarkable accomplishment to share with his players and staff, despite the exit in the regional tournament. "It was disappointing getting knocked out in the regional tournament with the club we had. I am still very proud of those young men," says Coach Dally

Last season's Suns Team had at least seven student-athletes continue their playing careers and educations at four-year instantiations, all playing vital roles in the 37 win season. "It's always a big loss when you have players of that caliber leave your program," said Coach Dally.

Returning for CVC is All-Metro Athletic Conference first baseman, Daniel Quintanilla (49 hits, 32 runs, 27 RBIs, four home runs, .355 batting average) catcher Santiago Sanchez, and pitcher Skyler White (46 strikeouts, 5.98 ERA). Quintanilla and White competed in the Texas-New Mexico All-Star Game in the off-season and helped Region 14 South to a win. With the trio exhibiting fine fall play, Coach Dally has great expectations of the returning sophomores.

The Suns will continue their formula of executing fundamental baseball and will infuse newcomers Nick Balley, Noah Lynch, Billy Rogers, and Blake Birdwell, who are expected to make an immediate impact.

The journey to the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series in Greeneville, Tennessee will begin this Saturday for the Suns when they host the Cisco Wranglers in a double-header.
